An exhibition dedicated to Boris Bućan (1947–2023) presents the work of one of the most influential European artists of the late 20th century. Working at the intersection of art, design, and public space, Bućan developed a distinctive visual language grounded in abstraction, symbolism, and conceptual clarity. His works are held in major international museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
The exhibition brings together Bućan’s large-scale visual works and his Bucan Art series (1972). In this series, globally recognisable symbols of consumer culture are transformed into autonomous visual signs, examining the relationship between image, identity, and symbolic power. Together, these works highlight Bućan’s understanding of the image as a universal form of communication.
The exhibition is part of the ongoing collaboration between Ras Al Khaimah Art and the Marinko Sudac Foundation, and takes place at the Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village, a UNESCO-protected site, from January 16 to February 8, 2026.
