Vojin Bakić was a sculptor most known for his large-scale monuments on the territory of ex-Yugoslavia. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1939 and continued his education in Florence and Milan.
His condensed and fluid lines are seen in the series of sculptures Bull (from 1950). Some of his other notable series of sculptures include Developed Surfaces (1960 – 1964) and Lightbearing Forms (1963 – 1964).
Some of Bakić’s monuments include Monuments within the Dotršćina Memorial (1964 – 1968), Monument to the Victory of the People of Slavonia (1968), Monument of Petrova Gora (1981).
